Dr. Kean is an Assistant Professor in the IUSM Department of PM&R and the Associate Research Director at RHI. Dr. Kean is a certified speech-language pathologist with clinical and research experience in the assessment and treatment of acquired neurogenic cognitive and communicative disorders. His primary research interest is in the development and implementation of assessment tools to assess recovery and outcome in persons with acquired brain injuries using IRT psychometric models. He is active in the American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine, the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, and the International Neuropsychological Society. Dr. Kean is currently directing projects to: 1) identify neuroimaging biomarkers of TBI recovery, 2) evaluate the impact of medications on TBI cognitive recovery, and 3) develop measures for TBI self-management.
