Abstract:

Study examined the impact of a community-based behavior management program for people with traumatic brain injury and their caregivers on ratings of caregivers' stress and burden. The program includes educational and interventional modules; researchers compared the effect of the educational module alone versus education plus interventional behavior management training aimed at reducing caregiver burden. The Questionnaire on Resources and Stress for Families with Chronically Ill or Handicapped Members (QRS) and an adapted version of the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) were used to measure the level of burden and stress before and after treatment. Results indicated no significant change in the QRS or MBI scores as a result of the intervention.
