Abstract:
Article proposes a new classification system to describe sexual responsiveness in women with spinal cord injury (SCI), the Female Spinal Sexual Function Classification. Reviews animal studies, studies of female orgasms after SCI, and studies of means to improve sexual functioning in women with SCI. Four main categories of sexual dysfunction are described by the classification system: (1) sexual desire disorders, (2) sexual arousal disorders, (3) orgasmic disorders, and (4) sexual pain disorders.
