Abstract:
Article describes mechanisms of action of typical and atypical antipsychotic medications used in treating individuals with traumatic brain injury. Indications and contraindications are presented, and recommendations are made for responsible prescription of antipsychotic medications, including clozapine, risperidone, olanzapine, quetiapine, and ziprasidone.
