Abstract:
Study evaluated the reliability, validity, and normative performance of the Cognitive Log (Cog-Log), a bedside screening measure that assesses orientation, memory, praxis, concentration, response inhibition, and executive functioning in rehabilitation inpatients. Participants included 150 patients with acquired brain injury and 83 young adults without acquired brain injury were included to provide normative data. Performance scores were obtained for the Cog-Log, the Wechsler Memory Scale-Revised, the Rey Auditory Verbal Learning Test, the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale-Revised, and the Trail Making Test. Reliability analysis showed strong interrater reliability and high internal consistency. Cog-Log items designed to measure memory were most strongly predictive of performance on similar standardized neurologic measures administered on the same day.
